SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 11, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — AMD ( AMD) announced today that its RFSoC Xilinx® Zynq® UltraScale+™ enabled the development of several Evenstar (RU) radio units to extend the global 4G/5G mobile network infrastructure. As the demand for Internet connectivity continues to grow at a rapid rate, the infrastructure that supports it must keep pace and improve. The Evenstar program supported by Meta connectivity is a collaborative initiative between carriers and technology partners to create scalable, efficient, and metaverse-ready radio access network (RAN) reference designs for 4G and 5G networks in the Open RAN ecosystem.
Evenstar RUs with the Xilinx Zynq RFSoC architecture provide the flexibility to meet a wide range of requirements including 4G/5G, mmWave, and sub-6 GHz using the same base hardware. The ability to leverage the platform and respond to various radio configurations and emerging standards enables radio vendors to respond quickly to new market opportunities.
