Colin Cowherd makes his pick for NBA MVP

Colin Cowherd: “The most important word we fight over is ‘precious’. We confuse it with “awesome”. Giannis, Jokic or Embiid are the MVPs, but in this case it’s Giannis because when LeBron was dominating the league I kept saying ‘how does he not win MVP every year?’ LeBron was the general manager, and he’s the offensive and defensive coach. There wasn’t even an argument, LeBron was the most “VALUABLE” player in the league, and we’re not getting into the nitty-gritty with Giannis. I know you love triple-doubles so Giannis can’t be MVP because he was 4 assists short against the 76ers the other night! Come on man, it’s not “statistically the most incredible”, triple doubles are rubbish. They do not lead to victories, but to blockages, dominate on both sides, dominate in the fourth quarter. It’s not a referendum on Ja Morant, but he won’t dominate defensively. Don’t confuse “big highlights” with “MVP”. Don’t confuse “cool stats” with “MVP”. Giannis, like LeBron was, is the most valuable player in the league. He’s the best defender, he’s the most athletic, he’s the longest, thank God he’s the most grateful and humble. Stop looking at triple-doubles, he’s the NBA’s second-half leading scorer, 16 points per game. He is the best “clutch” player in the NBA. He’s 54 percent from the floor in clutch time (points scored when the score is within five points in the final five minutes of the fourth quarter and overtime). If you want STATS, give me those endgame stats. Another part of his value is that he is never hurt and always available. This guy, and this executive, he was never hurt. In games, Giannis has missed the Bucks who are below .500. Think about it, the NBA champions aren’t even a .500 team without Giannis. The Grizzlies are 18-2 without Ja. Don’t confuse ‘stats’, ‘highlights’, ‘cool’ and ‘excellent’ with ‘valuable’. (Full video above)
