For the second year in a row, NPR has partnered with globalFEST in January 2021 for an exciting online music festival we call Small office meets globalFEST: three nights, nine bands and a world of musical traditions hosted by African pop star Angélique Kidjo. Now we are releasing all of our festival sets as individual Tiny Desk (home) gigs.
Kiran Ahluwalia’s original compositions embody the essence of Indian music while embracing influences from Mali and Western blues, rock, R&B and jazz. With his group of six musicians composed of electric guitar, accordion, organ, tabla, bass and drums, Ahluwalia creates revolutionary songs that invite us to explore the human condition, to transcend ourselves by losing ourselves in a trance of groove and melody. The dual JUNO and songs The award winner’s outspoken voice has positioned her as one of the most compelling cross-pollinators in world music. —globalFEST
