The Manitoba RCMP has released crime statistics for the month of March.

The Western District recorded a decrease in all categories including service calls with 3,000,872 last month compared to 4,000,596 in March 2021. The decrease in calls represents a 6% decrease from a year to year.

There was a sharp decrease in suspicious person/vehicle/property calls from 232 to 158, and breach of the peace from 146 to 98, while welfare checks increased from 67 to 83.

Although there was a slight drop in the property crime category in March from 550 to 547, there were some increases in the subcategories. Theft under 5,000 increased to 136, fraud increased to 71, while theft over 5,000 decreased to 29.

Drug Enforcement decreased from 62 to 34, with a noticeable drop in Trafficking from 42 to 17.

East district: – 13% (6,607 to 5,722)

Western District: -6% (4,596 to 3,872)

North Quarter: +14% (5,590 to 6,399)

Manitoba East district

During March 2022, Manitoba The Eastern District reported decreases in all categories over the same period in 2021. The following increases and decreases are highlighted:

Routine police activities

There was an overall decrease of -7% (738 to 689) compared to March 2021, with the largest decrease observed for suspect persons/vehicles/goods from 276 to 182 (-34%), while there has been a noticeable increase in wellness checks. from 102 to 147 (+34%).

Crimes Against the person

This category saw an overall decrease from 526 to 359 (-32%), with Robbery/Extortion/Harassment/Threats decreasing from 142 to 85 (-40%) and Assault decreasing from 308 to 243 (-21%) .

Crimes Against property

There was an overall decrease from 864 to 790 (-9%) with the largest decrease for arson from 8 to 1 (-88%). Thefts under $5,000 increased from 154 to 207 (+34%) and thefts over $5,000 increased from 66 to 75 (+12%).

fight against drugs

Fighting Drugs saw an overall drop from 50 to 33 (-34%), specifically, Possession fell from 14 to 8 (-43%).

Manitoba North district

During March 2022, in March 2021, Manitoba The Northern District reported increases in all categories except drug enforcement. The following increases and decreases are highlighted:

Routine police activities

Overall increase of +8% (875 to 944) with the largest increase in Wellness Scores increasing from 117 to 147 (+26%), General Public Support increased from 85 to 99 (+16%) and Persons reported missing also increased from 151 to 172 (+14%).

Crimes Against the person

Overall, there was an increase from 881 to 992 (+13%). Assaults increased from 646 to 770 (+19%) while sexual offenses decreased from 63 to 38 (-40%).

Crimes Against property

There was an overall increase from 859 to 1,249 (+45%), with arson increasing from 4 to 10 (+150%), theft over $5,000 increasing from 14 to 31 (+121%) , while possession of stolen goods decreased by 67% (from 12 to 4).

fight against drugs

Overall, the category decreased from 66 to 53 (-20%) with Possession specifically decreasing from 15 to 9 (-40%).
