Sulfur Springs ISD Group students do well in competitions


Students from the Sulfur Springs ISD group have performed well in competitions over the past two weeks, with middle and high school teams winning UIL honors and the Winter Guard finishing in the top 10.

The Sulfur Springs Middle School Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band earned full First Division scores and won a competition trophy last week, while the Sulfur Springs High School Concert Band won a First Division in sight-reading at the UIL competition last week.

The Winter Guard placed 6th overall in the highly competitive top division round at North Texas Color Guards Association Championships.

Various groups of Wildcat instrumentalists will be performing and participating in a number of activities over the next 2 months.

Other upcoming musical and group activities include:

  • Members of the Wildcat Jazz Band will perform the 2nd Annual Jazz in the Square at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Celebration Plaza. Students plan to perform music from Three Dog Night, B-52, Blues Brothers, Starship and more. Everyone is welcome to bring lawn chairs or a blanket downtown on Thursday for an evening of music, all for free.
  • A Wildcat Band Banquet is scheduled for April 28, 2022.
  • The SSISD Strings program is scheduled to perform a concert on May 2, 2022.
  • An orchestra concert is scheduled for May 3, 2022.
  • A choir concert is scheduled for May 10, 2022.
