Award-winning pop-up radio station Virgin Radio Pride UK returns to the airwaves for its second season on June 1.
The LGBT station is back to air more great conversations throughout the summer and play more great music.
Back on demand, Virgin Radio Pride United Kingdom will air a program filled with the best pop-dance and pop-R&B music of the past twenty years, as well as all the biggest talking points in the community in a grand celebration of LGBTQ+ culture.
Stephen Sullivan will host the new Stephen Sullivan Slides Breakfast show from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, followed by Olivia Jones who joins the station to present the show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Olivia joins the regular Virgin Radio Pride United Kingdom team that includes leading LGBT broadcasters Phil Clifton, Debbie Ryan, Stephen Sullivan, Alex Milsom, Shivani Dave, Matt Cain, Steve Denyer, Crossy, Matt Horton, Emma Goswell and Ru Paul’s Drag Race superstar Tia Kofi. Chris Evans‘ breakfast with Sky will be broadcast on Virgin Radio Pride UK at its usual time Monday to Friday from 6.30am to 10am.
Christian Hewgill joins the team in July, from BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat program, to produce and present a range of LGBTQ+ sports documentaries, including the road to the World Cup in Qatar for gay fans and the growth of bands. LGBT fans across the world of football.
Other standout content from the station includes the special My Pride Playlist, where a special guest will speak with Steve Denyer each week and choose his all-time favorite Pride songs, starting with the singer, songwriter and music DJ. British electronics, Skin. There will also be a range of bespoke documentaries with programming this year exploring Pride in Politics, the story of Terry Higgins, LGBT life in the military, 50 years of Pride and much more.
The station will continue to work with a range of partners through its programming. Last year, Virgin Radio Pride UK worked closely with The Food Chain, the charity that works to ensure people living with HIV in London can access the nutrition they need to lead healthy lives. and independent, mental health charity Shout, UK Aids Memorial Quilt Partnership, All About Trans and The Log Books podcast.
Virgin Radio Pride United Kingdom will support the bandwidth of Virgin Radio Groove United Kingdomwhich withdraws to make room for it, and will broadcast alongside the Virgin Radio UK, Virgin Radio Anthems UK and Virgin Radio Chilled United Kingdom canals. Virgin Radio Pride United Kingdom was named the World’s Best Social Action Project at the New York Radio Festivals Awards last month and won Brand Campaign of the Year at the Proud Scotland Awards.
