The following are recaps of High School Girls’ Basketball for January 5-6. There may be some updates, so check back.
Girls Rivertown Classic Round 1 – Switzerland County 45, South Dearborn 36
Switzerland County erased a 10-point halftime deficit to defeat host Lady Knights.
Jessie Duvall led the Lady Pacers with 18 points. Sister Maddie had 14 and MacKenzie Taylor had eight. For South Dearborn, Emily Elliott scored nine points while Natalie Rupp and Quinn Heizer scored six each.
Girls Rivertown Classic Round 1- Lawrenceburg 57, Rising Sun 29
Defending champion Lawrenceburg took a 16-4 lead in the first quarter and took the victory by 28.
Lizzie Redar and Kirsten Cross had 13 and 11 respectively for the Lady Tigers. The duo also combined for 13 rebounds. Hannah White added eight points. The Shiners got a record 16 from Alyssa Simpson and seven from Jenna Peelman.
North Decatur have a big second half to win in South Decatur, 51-40.
The Lady Chargers trailed by 10 at the half and outscored the Cougars by 21 in the second half. South Decatur’s 27 turnovers weighed heavily on the result.
For ND, Madi Allen scored 16 and Madelyn Bohman scored nine. For SD, Makayla Summers led with 11 and Kiley Best won 10.
(JV) North Decatur defeated South Decatur 46-40.
Ally Whitaker and Sydney Rohls scored 15 and 10 in the Charger Reserves victory.
Shelby County Tournament, Round 1 – Waldron 49, Southwest of Shelby 33.
Waldron got 17 points from Bella Larrison and 14 from Megan Bogemann. Mackenzie Shawe followed with eight. Lilly Rooks scored 14 points for Southwestern and Lily Kerber scored 10.
Shelby County Tournament, Round 1 – Triton Central 50, Morristown 30.
Lizzie Graham had six triples for 18 points to lead TC. Brooklyn Bailey composed a dozen of them and Olivia Faust composed nine. Reagan Kleine scored 10 for the Yellow Jackets.
East Central lost 45-31 at Mt. Notre Dame (OH).
The Lady Trojans were outscored 27-16 in the second half.
Hope Fox and Josie Trabel led EC with 12 points each. The two players also combined for 24 rebounds.
Rushville won at Brookville over Franklin County 48-31.
The Lions led by just four at halftime but outscored the Wildcats 22-9 in the second period.
Sophia Dora and Annika Marlow both scored 15 points for Rushville. Dora topped the glass with 14 rebounds. Both players got three assists.
